If your draft is finished and you want my attention on it, I will assess your manuscript and factor in your specific goals and build a custom approach to help you develop your manuscript into an amazing novel. I bill at my hourly rate of $35/hour. Here are some common types of services I often do:

-For writers who don’t have a publication goal but want to learn from a seasoned writer and editor how to improve their craft, using their manuscript as a teaching example. We will work together using your manuscript to develop your style and skill in the process of improving the manuscript. While a published book is not the end goal, the finished manuscript will be stronger and more salable for when you wish to pick it up
DRAFT COACHING
Submit weekly to John on your draft in process to receive in-depth editorial feedback that will help you make sure it’s shaping up. Are you an intensive planner? Completely organic writer? Either way, John’s developmental comments are designed to work with what you’re writing, inviting you to ask deeper questions about the promises you’re building in your narrative and the implications of the story that’s shaping up. In addition to developmental comments, you will get a summary letter from John that also discusses bigger picture feedback on the story as a whole, applying story structure analysis to help you think deeper about plot, premise, character, voice, and scene execution or craft issues, all the with the aim of helping you learn and improve for the weeks ahead.

Intermediate draft coaching ($59/week)

COLLABORATIVE WRITING SUPPORT
Collaborative writing support runs as a team in Slack, an interactive app that let’s you engage with the group through topic channels devoted to issues relating to your writing, such are craft discussion, critique, writing habits, and inspiration. The focus of this group is to help you build accountability into your practice as a writer and benefit from the ideas shared between other collaborators.
